Screen Recording permission. The whole-screen eyedropper picks a background colour by sampling your displays, which uses screen capture — so macOS will ask for Screen Recording permission the first time you use it. The app captures nothing until you invoke the eyedropper, and never transmits anything.
How spanning works on a Mac. macOS gives every display its own desktop picture, so Wallpaper Spanner composites one image across all your screens first, then writes each display's slice. The result is still one continuous scene.
